Mypencildotcom: Why did you choose the profession of Nutritionist/Dietician?
Gunjan Gupta: From the very beginning I was always fascinated by the mechanism of the human body, studying Nutrition helped me settle my curiosity, as well as I could give something back to society.
Mypencildotcom: Do you feel this generation lacks the balance to a good diet? How do you explain the importance of a good diet to your patients?
Gunjan Gupta: Yes of course according to this generation.Diet means only starving and losing weight. They don’t understand the meaning of quantified nutrition. They just focus on crash diets and weight loss.I always advise my patients to focus on health gain rather
than losing weight.
Keep your body healthy and all the things will fall in place.
Mypencildotcom: You are associated with a few charity platforms, can you please elaborate on your contribution and associations.
Gunjan Gupta: It is our foremost duty to give back to our society in whatever way we can.
I am trying my best. There is an orphanage near my place, I meet those orphan children every month and support them with stuff they need like stationery, food, etc.
I am also associated with an old Age home,
I always celebrate our special occasions with them sponsoring their meals or disturbing cakes among them.
Mypencildotcom: How the situation in the COVID era gave more importance to Nutritionist/Dietician as a contributor to society as social warriors?
Gunjan Gupta: Post covid people understood the importance of having a healthy body.
A healthy body means a super healthy immune system. Also, post covid people had numerous side effects on their bodies such as:
• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Knee pains Weakness
A good Nutritionist not only builds your immune system. It helps you recover from covid. It can also make your body fit and fine post covid.
Mypencildotcom: What are your plans 10 years down the line?
Gunjan Gupta: I just want to educate more and more people regarding the benefits and importance of a good diet. Eradicate the myth that diet only means starving /crash diets,5/7 years down the line I want to launch my own line of healthy foods.
Mypencildotcom: How important is it to understand social responsibility & do charity work?
Gunjan Gupta: We all are social animals If we won’t take care of our society then who will. If we are fortunate enough then it is our duty to give it back to our society.Charity begins at home so we should start doing whatever we can.
Mypencildotcom: How do you build rapport with your patients/clients?
Gunjan Gupta: Results are the best way to build rapport with your patients.Your patient has trusted you, the only way you can repay that is by giving them the desired results.
Making them happy with your diet, understanding their concerns, being patient with them, listening to them.
Mypencildotcom: One message that you wish to share with our readers.
