Mypencildotcom: How has been your journey till now?
Nasir: The journey has been very exciting, and a lot of things have happened during the journey. There have been many ups and downs and the journey was very thrilling. It has been taught a lot about people, government, and society. Moreover, there’s no certain age to learn anything, and also, I’m learning day by day from my experience.
Mypencildotcom: What made you take this decision to serve this country?
Nasir: There were only two things I wanted to do, either I have to serve the nation, may it be Khaki or may it be Khadi. While I was in college and elections came up. When I was 21, there was an education criterion for elections and you must be the tenth pass. I decided to stand up for the elections and serve the nation, not by Khaki but I should wear Khadi and serve the nation and my people from the grassroots level of politics. I stood up for the elections and by the blessings of my people, God, my family, and my hard work; I won the elections.
Mypencildotcom: Have you faced any struggle during this journey?
Nasir: There have been many struggles but the main struggle was of age barrier. I was the youngest boy leading the village upfront and was facing issues. There are hundreds of things that I didn’t know but later on, I came to know that there is a way out for everything. In the beginning, I didn’t know how these schemes work, how to approach the government, and how to approach people. I had made my village ODF free and have built 96 toilets in our washroom. We did a lot of campaigns in our village like the Basic legal aid campaign. I asked my university to arrange a webinar for the people of my village to make them aware of their rights. They must know about the new technologies and the primary use of smartphones such as net banking and other uses.
Mypencildotcom: Who is your motivation that keeps you going on every day?
Nasir: Whenever I do something for my people or perform my duty, it brings a smile to their faces and they blessed me. This is the only thing that motivates me to perform my work with more dedication every day.
Mypencildotcom: What are your favorite hobbies apart from politics?
Nasir: I like to play cricket, actually I have been playing all the sports in my college and my school. I play cricket, I play squash, I play golf and I swim in the summers. These are my hobbies and I like to play sports in my free time to keep myself fit and healthy.
Mypencildotcom: Which is the favorite moment from your struggle journey?
Nasir: I remember a man, whose both kids were physically challenged. There is a government policy in which they provide pensions to such people but they weren’t getting that money for the last two to three years due to some incomplete paperwork. I completed their work and then they all the due pensions. They were so happy and they blessed me a lot.
Mypencildotcom: Which is your favorite fan moment which you remember?
Nasir: I don’t have fans; I have my people and I love them all. When I go to some other places, they see me and recognize me as a sarpanch. It feels very good when I get recognized for the work that I have done. People recognize me for my work and I get very happy about this gesture.
Mypencildotcom: Any message you would like to give the youths of India.
Nasir: To every citizen of the country, the main responsibility of a citizen is to be a voter. You have the power to change, to be a voter, to vote for yourself and get yourself enrolled in the role and be responsible. That’s the very primary step of a citizen. You should vote and be a responsible voter.
